Roger_Wright

Roger Wright, Chairman

Roger founded Hawkins Wright in 1982 following a career in the paper industry and latterly in management consultancy and market research. He has built Hawkins Wright into one of the world’s leading authorities on the global forest industries and markets.

He travels widely and has been involved in all private consultancy assignments undertaken by the company. Over the past 30 years Roger has led more than 1,000 research and consultancy assignments in more than 50 countries. He has made contributions to numerous industry publications and he frequently addresses audiences at international forest industry conferences.

Tom_Wright

Tom Wright, Managing Director

After training as an accountant, Tom joined Hawkins Wright in 1998. He undertakes most of the private client consultancy assigments on a wide range of topics related to the pulp and paper sector. He is the co-author of the Outlook for Market Pulp and makes regular contributions to Pulpwatch. He is the principal author of the Asian multi-client studies. Defining the China Market for Pulp Paper & Board enjoys industry-wide recognition and is now in its eighth year of publication.

Tom travels widely, both in the course of market research and also as a frequent speaker to private meetings and industry conferences.

John_Bingham

John Bingham, Director

John is an agricultural economist with over 25 years’ experience as an analyst and consultant in the natural resource industries, initially in agricultural markets and subsequently in metals, chemicals, pulp and paper and most recently in bioenergy markets. He joined Hawkins Wright in 1994.

He has been responsible for developing the firm’s bioenergy practice and remains the principal author of the Outlook for Wood Pellets report and of many private- and multi-client studies. He has undertaken consultancy assignments for individual clients in more than thirty countries.

Oliver_Lansdell

Oliver Lansdell, Director

Oliver is an industry analyst and consultant with more than 14 years' experience in the international pulp and paper industry. He has been with Hawkins Wright since 2007, working as one of the editors of Pulpwatch, Hawkins Wright’s monthly newsletter, the co-author of the Outlook for Market Pulp service, and the principal author of the Outlook for Dissolving Pulp. Prior to joining the company, Oliver worked as an analyst with the Pulp and Paper Products Council (PPPC) in Montreal, Canada.

Oliver has lead multiple consultancy projects including feasibility studies for pulp mills in Latin America, Russia and South East Asia. He presents frequently at industry gatherings.

Fiona Matthews, Research Manager

Fiona is an experienced bioenergy consultant and market analyst, and has been working in the sector since 2008. Her expertise covers energy conversion technologies (heat, power, CHP), biomass markets, logistics, sustainability, and policy/regulatory regimes. She joined Hawkins Wright as Research Manager in 2013, is the Editor of Hawkins Wright's monthly Forest Energy Monitor service and a co-author of the Outlook for Wood Pellets service. She is also responsible for delivering bespoke consultancy projects for public and private sector clients on a range of bioenergy topics. 

She has a degree in Physics from the University of York and is an APMP qualified Project Manager.

Pierre_Bach

Pierre Bach, Research Manager 

Pierre joined Hawkins Wright in 2014 and has been providing research and editorial support to the Pulp & Paper team. He is co-author of our monthly multi-client publication Pulpwatch, and also makes regular contributions to The Outlook for Market Pulp and Forest Energy Monitor reports. A newcomer to the sector, Pierre was previously employed as an analyst at Société Générale in Paris where he tracked the performance of structured products and undertook risk analyses.

He is a graduate of the American University of Paris where he studied Economics, Entrepreneurship and International Law.

Louisa Blair, Research Manager

Louisa joined Hawkins Wright in April 2015 from commodity price reporting agency Argus Media, where she was employed as a Deputy Editor on the company’s weekly biomass market report. She started working in the industry in 2011 and has since developed expertise in the fields of wood pellet & chip trade, supply, pricing and policy. At Hawkins Wright, Louisa is a co-author of both Forest Energy Monitor and the Outlook for Wood Pellets, and she is also involved in the development of a new wood fibre multi-client service. 

Louisa has also spent time working in the commercial side of the market, importing West African rubber wood chips into Europe for energy. She has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Bath.
